Dr. Raquib Ahsan brings exceptional expertise to his role as Trustee of Grameen Telecom Trust, drawing from his distinguished career as a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). His academic journey began with a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from BUET in 1995, followed by an M.Sc. in 1997, and culminated with a Ph.D. from Tokyo University, establishing his foundation in earthquake engineering, structural dynamics, and optimization. Rising through the academic ranks from Lecturer in 1995 to Professor in 2009, Dr. Ahsan has dedicated his career to advancing structural health monitoring, soil-structure interaction, and steel structure research. His international recognition includes prestigious fellowships such as the MONBUSHO Scholarship from Japan's Ministry of Education and Culture, JSPS Post-Doctoral Fellowship, and ISIS Grant as a visiting scholar at the University of Manitoba, Canada. Throughout his tenure at BUET, he has served in various leadership capacities including Deputy Project Director of the BUET-Japan Institute of Disaster Prevention and Urban Safety, Associate Director of Students' Welfare, and Computer Laboratory In-Charge. Dr. Ahsan has led numerous significant research projects funded by government ministries and international organizations, focusing on structural health monitoring, earthquake risk reduction, and disaster management in Bangladesh. His expertise extends to national service as a member of expert committees for disaster management and building safety assessment, including investigations into major structural failures. As an active member of professional bodies including the Institute of Engineers Bangladesh, Japan Society of Civil Engineers, and International Society for Structural Health Monitoring, Dr. Ahsan continues to contribute his technical expertise and leadership to infrastructure development and social welfare initiatives through his trustee role at Grameen Telecom Trust.
