Keeping the philosophy of Professor Yunus, Grameen Telecom Trust launched its Nobin Udyokta Program on November 18, 2013 at the 14th Board Meeting. Nobin Uddogtas’ (New Entrepreneurs) are children of Grameen Bank Borrowers who are being encouraged to start their own businesses and creating jobs as opposed to looking for employment. The Nobin Uddogta Program aims to finance and incubate these aspiring entrepreneurs. It envisions strengthening and disseminating the concept of social business through the practical realization of business idea by involving young entrepreneur(s).
Two nobin udyoktas, Mr. Md. Shamimul Haque from Chilmari, Kurigram and Mr. Suzon Kumar Saha from Mithapukur, Rangpur presented two business cases at the 9th Social Business Design Lab on 16 November 2013 at Yunus Centre. Mr. Saha has eight years experience in Telecom and Servicing Business. He will start this business at Mithapukur, Rangpur with different items of telecommunication related products. With this business he wants to create employment opportunity for others especially for Grameen Borrower’s family. Mr. Haque has five years experience in clothing shop business. The location of his project is Ramna, Chilmari, Kurigram. Both of them aspire to expand their ventures. At an agreement signing ceremony between the entrepreneurs and Grameen Telecom Trust, the aforementioned young entrepreneurs were inducted in the program. A cheque of taka fifty thousand was handed in advance to Mr. Haque by Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus as part of the first phase of funding.
